By definition, “vaping” is the act of inhaling vaporized flavored water with nicotine (e-liquid) through a personal vaporizer or electronic cigarette. Vaping eliminates 4000 chemicals and carcinogenic compounds that come from real cigarettes without compromising the act of “smoking” itself.
Studies show that vaping is just as dangerous as smoking. Scientists warn that e-cigarettes are just as dangerous as smoking tobacco and may cause cancer. According to one study, vapor from the electronic devices can damage or even kill human cells. There are better alternatives to vaping if they’re addicted to nicotine like nicotine gum or patches.
So far, evidence suggests that e-cigarettes may be safer than regular cigarettes. The biggest danger from tobacco is the smoke, but e-cigarettes don’t burn. Tests show the levels of dangerous chemicals they give off are a fraction of what you’d get from a real cigarette. But what’s in them can vary. Although they do not produce tobacco smoke, e-cigarettes still contain nicotine and other potentially harmful chemicals. Nicotine is a highly addictive drug, and recent research suggests nicotine exposure may also prime the brain to become addicted to other substances.
The FDA regulates tobacco containing products, but since e-cigarettes contain no tobacco they are not regulated by the same rules. Thus, there are no regulations on e-cigarettes as of yet. Since there aren’t regulations on them their contents may vary.
Most Surprising Information
We were surprised to learn that e-cigarettes are not very well regulated; in fact, they essentially aren’t. As long as they contain no tobacco they don’t have to follow the same regulations that cigarettes have. This means that one brand could contain some really hazardous chemical but in another brand it’s completely missing.

Effect on Teens’ Health
People need to learn to manage their lives well so they don’t end up smoking e-cigarettes. It is a some what better alternative than cigarettes but it is better to avoid it completely.
Teens who smoke e-cigarettes are likely to cause serious complications for themselves. They also might not now the harm they’re doing to their body by smoking them.
Why we chose this topic
We chose this topic because we saw the declining use of tobacco products the more people knew of the terrible side effects but there was a rise in the e-cigarette market and not everyone is aware of the negatives of these alternative products.
